The Lord of Beginning Again

One of the lessons we all learn sooner or later is to let go of the hope for a better past. Despite the apparent futility of this universal hope for a better history, we see people wasting years of their lives hanging on to this hope that things will get better even if they do nothing.

Elizabeth Fletcher Torkington once wrote a poem, "The Lord of Beginning Again," with a verse that any reflective and sensitive person can identify with.

I wish there were some wonderful place

Called the Land of Beginning Again,

Where all our mistakes and all our heartaches

and all our poor selfish grief

Could be dropped like a shabby old coat at the door

And never be put on again.

The possibility for a better future begins when we let go of the hope for a better past. Remember, Jesus gave us the chance to know new beginnings. Let us take this moment to thank God for all the good and beautiful things He gives us, and let us try to let go and let God. We stand facing all these possibilities as Easter people. May we look ahead with the full knowledge that God is with us and guiding us daily, moment by moment. Christ came so that we may have life and have it more abundantly. Know we are forgiven of our sins, and we may start again in so many words. So come to Christ and start afresh in the name of Christ.

See you on Sunday,

Misty
