Easter

The first Easter occurred on the first day of the week after the Passover Sabbath. The first day of the week became the Christian's "Sabbath rest" (Heb. 4:1-11), the time of weekly Christian celebration of the resurrection. Early Christians consulted local rabbis to determine the date of Passover each year, corresponding to Holy Week. Passover was determined by the lunar configurations of the latitude where the Jewish community resided. There was no Jewish authority at Jerusalem to determine a uniform date after the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in A.D. 70. until the West's adoption of the revised Gregorian calendar in the sixteenth century.

Our first service celebrating the Resurrection of Christ will be our Sunrise Service at 6:30 AM, held in the front of the church.  We will have breakfast following the service. Then, we will have our regular worship services at 8:15 and 10:30; with Sunday School at 9:15. I hope that as we have engaged in this Lenten season, you have a fresh sense of all we will experience together.

See you on Sunday,

Misty
