Sunday Mornings are for Getting Connected!
Connected to God, connected to the people of Aldersgate, and connected to all that goes on in the life of this youth group and church.
Here’s what the youth of Aldersgate Sunday School (Connect) hour looks like:
9:50 AM – ALL youth, 7th-12th grade will meet in the HUB room upstairs in the CAC for a time of announcements.
10 AM – The youth will split into two classes. The two classes are detailed below:
1. Connection – This class will meet in the HUB room. It is an opportunity for our youth to meet and learn from a variety of different Christians both from our Aldersgate family and beyond. By the invitation of the youth director, people will come and share with this class about how God has been at work in their life. They will share stories of their experience in being a disciple of Jesus and about the work Jesus has given them to do. One of the best ways we learn how to be faithful disciples of Jesus is by being connected to other Christians who can tell us the story of how they have learned and are continuing to learn to follow Jesus.
This class will change every 4-8 weeks. It will be made up of different parts of the youth group at different times, depending on the person who is leading the class.
In January Paige Johnson will be with our 9-12 graders teaching a hands on class exploring the connection between art and our faith! This will be a four week class starting on January 8.
2. Continue the Conversation – This class will meet in the couch room. It is a discussion-oriented class that will concentrate on what we are doing in worship together, with special emphasis on the Scripture for that given Sunday. We are all told that worship matters and that what we read and hear together is supposed to make a difference in our lives. But then we leave worship and never talk about it again other than to say, “I liked it” or, “I didn’t like it.” We’ll this class is our attempt at doing something about that!
This class will be led by a series of different folks including Tony Jeck, Wes Anderson, Chappell Chancey, Keith Long, Stephanie Jeck, and sometimes by our preachers! This class will be made up of the youth who are NOT currently in the “Connection” class.
10:50 AM – Both classes conclude with prayer.
